Phototropism
Phototropism
Phototropism controls the growth of the plant in response to a light source. Positive phototropism is when a plant grows towards a light source. Negative phototropism is when a plant grows away from a light source. When hormones called auxins gather on the shaded side of a plant, it results in the elongation of the cells in that area faster than the cells on the other side of the plant. This is what causes the stem to move towards a light source.
